ACNE SCARS

Acne scars are the marks or pockets that can be left behind following an outbreak of acne.

They are caused by the aggravation the skin incurs on a spot or pimple bursting and damaging the surface of the skin. Sometimes the acne can leave behind discolouration that is also considered a type of acne scarring.

Acne scarring, depending on severity can leave the face or affected skin with an uneven rolling texture which is difficult to mask without treatment. Over time, acne scars may fade, but they will rarely self-correct entirely, as in most cases the damage to the skin is too severe to heal of its own accord.

How do you get rid of acne scars?

We can treat acne scars by causing controlled trauma to the skin in order to stimulate new collagen and elastin production which will help to restructure and resurface the skin. 

We have a number of different treatments that can help including:

• Microneedling
• RF (Radio frequency) Microneedling 
• Fractional Laser
• LED Light therapy

What treatment is best for acne scars?

Fractional laser is seen as one of the best treatments for acne scarring. We offer non ablative fractional laser in clinic and have seen excellent results from this treatment. We also see excellent results from RF microneedling and traditional microneedling which create a controlled trauma response to help heal the skin.

Peels are excellent for acne scarring, however results from laser will be seen in less time and will be more significant than from peels. Dermalux LED is clinically proven and a non invasive treatment that also gets fantastic results.

We recommend treatments on an individual basis for each patient we see and we will work with you to find the best treatment for your individual needs.

Can you fully get rid of acne scars?

It’s unlikely that scars will completely resolve, however we usually see a significant improvement in the patients we treat.
